Casual Furniture Market 2021 first steps back
I ended my sabbatical from attending industry markets with the Casual Market Chicago 2021. A market focused on all things outdoor and casual living. After leaving MFANO in 2019 I had a non compete which made me take a break from fabrics, furniture and design. I went back to Emergency room nursing just in time for Covid 19. Over the last year I did a lot of reflection and realized it was not just about getting back into the industry that made me excited… It was working with products and manufacturers that met my moral compass that mattered to me. Environmental impacts, Sustainable, renewable, post consumer waste, repurposing, recycling, natural and vegan were all things that mattered to me.
Hemp has always been an interest of mine. Until 2018 American farmers were not allowed to grow Hemp. Now legal and being grown stateside it became apparent that the processors, machinery and infrastructure did not exist or was very fractured. Over the last six months I sat down focused and networked until I found what I wanted. USA woven hemp textiles. I am currently working in a partnership with a weaver/ dye master couple from my home state of PA and happily was able to show off some of their fabrics and our collaborative USA Woven Hemp Canvas in Chicago.
It had great interest and I am happy to say I feel like I am back in the game. This time under my own umbrella of Get Modern Sales.
